When it comes to developing cool-looking and groundbreaking concept cars, Mitsubishi is ahead of the curve. Fortunately, that trend will continue after the unveiling of the MitsubishiConcept CA-MiEV.
The Concept CA-MiEV is a representation of Mitsubishi’s vision for future electric vehicles, as well as a showcase for the work it is undertaking toward that future. The concept’s main attraction is its high-efficiency powertrain, which features high-density energy lithium-ion batteries, magnetic resonance wireless charging technology, a compact flat battery pack, and an all-in-one integrated power unit that combines a motor, inverter and charger.
The result is a highly compact and ultra-lightweight vehicle that provides considerable power, 186 miles of pure EV range, and more room than you’d expect from its size—after all, when you remove all the parts required in a conventional powertrain and make the batteries and motor as compact as possible, that leaves a lot of room for passengers and cargo.
Mitsubishi intends to introduce the technologies showcased in the Concept CA-MiEV in future vehicles, including technology unrelated to the powertrain, like wireless charging and smartphone-activated functions.
Also available would be an assortment of safety technologies, like Forward Collision Mitigation, Active Cruise Control and Lane Departure Warning, as well as other features.
If Mitsubishi's wish comes to fruition, the Concept CA-MiEV could herald an exciting new era for electric vehicles. And this car would be on the forefront of it all. At Bakersfield Mitsubishi, we can’t wait to see this car in action and provide you with some exclusive pictures. Who knows? Maybe soon it'll be available for you to test drive!
