Worn Down Brake Pads

A simple way to inspect your brakes is to peak through spaces between the spokes of your wheel and view the brake pads. If the brake pads are not at least a quarter of an inch thick, it’s time to have them replaced. Another way to know if your brake pads are worn down is if you hear a screeching noise, which is caused by an indicator. If you hear a growling or grinding noise, it means the brake pads have completely worn down, and the caliper and disc are rubbing against each other. This can also cause the rotors to get scratched, so it’s important to have a service technician inspect your brakes.

Lower Responsiveness

If the pedal seems to sink into the floor or you notice your brakes are not responsive enough, your braking system could have a brake fluid leak or an air leak in the brake hose. When you have a brake fluid leak, you could also have a puddle of fluid when your vehicle is in park. It’s important to have your brakes serviced if you notice any of these signs.

Pulling to One Side

If your vehicle pulls to one side when you apply the brakes, your brake fluid could have a foreign matter inside it, or your brake linings could be unevenly wearing down. A service technician can identify the cause of the pulling when you bring your vehicle into the service department. Depending on the cause, the technician may need to replace your fluid or adjust your brakes.
We at Bakersfield Mitsubishi encourage you to bring your vehicle into our service department for a brake inspection or parts replacement as needed.
